When I bought this I thought that it retained the 4x4 system by going in place of the models original faux engine. This was not the case. The drive motor powers the rear wheel axles and then runs the power back to the front axle. The steering motor is placed vertically in the cabin when the spindle for the original playable steering knob was. I thought this was all a little sloppy. I tried to mount the motor in the original faux engines spot to retain the high and low speed gearbox. I quickly found out why Zene didn't do this. The gears started to slip with the slightest amount of torque. I had to rethink this plan so I took apart the gearbox and rebuilt it so it could handle the torque. In doing this I lost the low range and high range setting but I figured I really only wanted the low range anyways so I just made the gear ratio really low. Since I took out the original engine in the model I had room underneath the hood so I managed to put the steering motor under there. The steering motor is not a servo, in other words one can turn it to full lock left or right and it will not return to center after you let go of the joystick on the remote. I didn't find this a huge deal when using the model to crawl but I thought I should mention it. My biggest gripe with the kit is just how weak the drive motor is. Maybe I shouldn't expect 1 power functions medium sized motor to drive such a heavy model but I wasn't going for speed. My gear reduction was very low and yet the motor would stall if I asked it to go up something really steep. The remote control that comes with the kit is very good. It has 2 joysticks that each control 2 different putputs for a total of 4 outputs via joystick. There are 4 switches on the bottom of the controller that allow one to switch the direction of each output. this was helpful in setup since my steering motor was mounted in reverse to the factory settings.
The radio control never cut out on me and worked every time. The battery was suprisingly smaller than I thought it would be and is rechargeable via micro usb. It has 4 connection points for four different power functions outputs. The battery box functions as the radio receiver. I wanna say that with this, "you get what you pay for", but honestly I didn't. The main reason one should buy this kit is if they intend on installing how the kit says to and use all the parts. For me I basically spent $50 on sale for 3 mediocre electronics and a bunch of LEGO priced I didn't need. If you plan on buys this kit for the motors like me don't. In hindsight I should have just order the motored I needed from Amazon for $20-30 and gotten them in 3 days instead of in two weeks. In short, if you want to build the kit how it was intended to be built, go ahead buy it, but don't expect it to ship quickly or be very refined.

Product - Battery works fine, motors work fine but the issue is the steering motor will turn the wheels forever resulting in breaking the gears and lego pieces. The gear that connects the motor with the back wheels keeps coming out, can’t use the product for more than 5 seconds. I’m very disappointed in the way the assembly of this product is. I did everything correctly according to instructions but the gears will simply disconnect because of the immense power of the motor

Dead battery on arrival. Disappointing, and while chat support from China trying to be helpful, i am doubtful I will get a replacement. I’m sure i just lost my $59 on this. Surprise me, Zene. Please.
