F1 Schedule 2025

by ZENE LEGO 07 Mar 2025 0 Comments

The FIA and Formula 1 are integral to the world of motorsport, with the FIA providing the regulatory framework and Formula 1 delivering the spectacle and competition that captivates millions of fans worldwide. The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) and Formula 1 (F1) are two of the most prominent entities in the world of motorsport.

FIA

The FIA is the governing body for many auto racing events, including Formula 1. Established in 1904, the FIA is headquartered in Paris, France. It is responsible for regulating and overseeing various forms of motorsport, ensuring safety standards, and promoting sustainable mobility. The FIA also works on road safety campaigns and represents the interests of motoring organizations and car users worldwide.

Formula 1 (F1)

Formula 1 is the highest class of international single-seater auto racing sanctioned by the FIA. Known for its high-speed races, cutting-edge technology, and global fanbase, F1 is one of the most popular and prestigious forms of motorsport. The F1 World Championship season consists of a series of races, known as Grands Prix, held on purpose-built circuits and public roads around the world. Teams compete with highly advanced cars, and drivers vie for the World Drivers' Championship, while teams compete for the World Constructors' Championship.

Relationship Between FIA and Formula 1:

The FIA sets the rules and regulations for Formula 1, ensuring fair competition and safety. It oversees the technical and sporting regulations, race officiating, and the enforcement of penalties. Formula 1, on the other hand, is managed by Formula One Group, which handles the commercial rights and promotion of the sport. Together, the FIA and Formula 1 work to maintain the integrity, excitement, and global appeal of the sport while continuously innovating to improve safety and sustainability.

The 2025 Formula 1 Calendar

The FIA and Formula 1 has announced the calendar for the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship, with another 24-round season in store for fans, drivers and teams as the championship marks its 75th anniversary.

The calendar for the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship – which will mark the series’ 75th anniversary – is out and features a 24-race schedule that looks a little different to this year’s campaign.

The key differences and stand outs from the 2025 F1 calendar

Kicking off with the Australian Grand Prix from March 14-16 and concluding with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on the weekend of December 5-7, the paddock will again visit five of the world’s seven continents.

Yes, Australia returns to its familiar slot as the season-opener. The 5.278km temporary Albert Park circuit – with Melbourne’s stunning skyline as a backdrop – has hosted the Australian Grand Prix since 1996 but moved to hosting the third round in recent years.

The event continues to draw immense popularity. This year’s race set a new record for Sunday attendance, with 132,106 spectators – an increase of 1,000 compared to the previous year. The overall weekend attendance also reached a new high of 452,055, surpassing last year’s figure by 7,424.

What are the Main Differences?

The Australian Grand Prix will take place on 14-16 March, two weeks later than the season began this year.

That gives teams an extra couple of weeks to refine their machines before heading to pre-season testing and then onto Australia. Despite the later start, the season will conclude on a slightly earlier note, with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix taking place one day sooner than it did this year.

Where does this year’s season-opener Bahrain fit in?

With Ramadan in March, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will take place in April. Ramadan will be throughout March in 2025, and therefore the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix will be held in April.

Bahrain will be round four, forming the middle of a triple header that starts in Japan and ends in Saudi Arabia.

The Grands Prix in both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will return to being run on Sunday, having held Saturday evening Grands Prix this season. That leaves Las Vegas as the only Saturday night race on the 2025 calendar.

Suzuka will still host a race during Sakura season

This year 2025, Suzuka looked stunning as it was engulfed in pink and white cherry blossoms that lit up the iconic Japanese circuit.

And it’ll be more of the same next year, with the Japanese race taking place on the same April weekend.

Changes made to the calendar in 2024 to create a better geographical flow of races have been carried over to 2025, with Japan in April following Australia and China, followed predominantly by the European races over the summer and the Americas during the Autumn, before Qatar and Abu Dhabi finish the season back-to-back.

What else has changed?

That double header follows a new extended break in July, with three weeks between the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and Belgium.

The two-week mandatory factory closure for teams which is enforced by the regulations remains in August, between Hungary and the Netherlands. Hungary and Belgium have swapped round, with Hungary moving back to its traditional slot as the final race before the four-week summer break.

The traditional summer break remains in August, with three weekends off separating the pre-holiday Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring and the post-holiday Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.

The extended breaks we have this year in October and November have disappeared, with the run of races from Azerbaijan in September through to Abu Dhabi in December spaced out more evenly.

What about F1 Sprints. Are they still happening?

There will be six Sprints held in 2025, with Shanghai, Miami, Spa, Austin, Sao Paulo and Qatar all hosting Sprints next year.
